Vanity Top measurement

I'm remodeling a master bath with new everything. The vanity will consists of 3 base cabinets, 2 at 30" and 1 at 18" for a total of 78". It will be between a wall and linen cabinet from the same cabinet company.

A installer came out to measure for the cultured marble vanity top. He made a comment that the cabinets have a 1/4" "overhang", so he was going to order the top to be 78 1/4".

Doesn't sound right to me. Any advice?

If the measurement is 78 between the wall and the linen cabinet then where is the overhang going to go? Maybe he is ordering them a little long so there will be material for scribing against the wall if necessary.
