vanity doesn't meet wall

I am remodeling my bathroom on a budget. This house was built in the 60's. I am putting up wood on the walls to make it look like barn wood. I tore off the existing tile that was by the vanity top on the wall and only went up 3 tile high. Now I have a space between the walls (on both sides) and the vanity of about 1 inch. What should I do to fill this gap? p.s. the vanity top curves up a little in the back. (does this make any sense ? lol)

Seriously reconsider this idea.

I'd suggest that you repair the wall (green board?) and re-tile.

Sorry, but I don't want to reconsider. I was just going to take the wallpaper down and paint...but, as you can see, there is 5 (yes 5) layers of wallpaper and I am sick of trying to peel it all off. Plus, no primer/paint under the original paper. grrrrr!!!! Here is a picture...thanks

Location....small town USA. So if you are from the "big city"...I'm sure this is not your taste in decor. But it is mine.

How thick is the wood?

Are you going all the way to the ceiling?

It's that real thin Cariboo solid wood plank paneling that is tongue and groove.

It's not about "decor" or taste.
It's about having wood in a bathroom.

As to the wallpaper... hire out the PITA or put up thin sheet rock.

pegzi....what the guys are trying to tell you is that the wood will absorb moisture....it does not do well in damp bathrooms....looks good for a short time....note....short time.

The guys are just trying to prevent you having to do it again before you want to.

Thanks for your help! there are just 2 of us at this house and only one takes a shower in this bathroom and he leaves the door open and the vent on so I think that it will be just fine. Thanks again!
