Tub squeaks when front skirt is added
I know there has been plenty of squeaky tub issues in old topics. Mine seems to be a little different problem.
My installation is half drop in and half alcove. The tub is in a corner with a knee wall added at one end.
I did all the leveling of a lip support on the walls and knee wall. The tub is a half inch off on height from end to end. I poured 1 1/2 inches of mortar for support of 1/2 inch on one end and 1 inch on the other. After standing in the tub and wiggling it down to the level lip supports on the knee wall front skirt and corner walls, I let it set for about 30 hours before messing with it.
I pulled the front skirt which hadn't been nailed when i set the tub to see if the mortar was good and hard. When I stuck it back in place it looked good.
I started pressing down on the tub lips to make sure everything was solid and didn't move. It is solid allright but it squeaks with the front skirt added. No sqeak without the front skirt. I tried shimming it up thinking it might not have good contact with the lip. No good, still have squeak. I'm very puzzled as what to try next. Rubber on top of the front skirt?
Sorry so long.
Start attending a different church?:)
All of those seem to be good ideas. I'll try them one at a time. The church thing just might work.
It may be an exorcism is in order but try the other ideas first.
Hey I know...use a little hand soap on the rub-area.
