Question

travertine sheets install

Im going to tile my bathroom with travertine tiles. the tiles come on a 12X12 sheet(tiles are like 2.5" X 1.5"). i have always used mastic for 6X6 ceramic and smaller. Thinset on 8X8 and larger. I have used mastic on ceramic 12X12 sheets. I have never worked with travertine. So my question is thinset or mastic?

You don't say where so.....
No mastic on floors. No mastic in wet locations.

Just use thinset and be done with it.
