Tiling Shower Surround

I am just preparing to tile a bath/shower surround and have a few questions.

The backer board is fairly even but there are a few low spots that are slightly uneven ( just over 1/8). Is this going to be a problem or with the thin set even out those areas.

Where should I start tiling ? On the slightly uneven areas or in the middle or side ?

Thanks
