Tiling over tile

We are in the process of finishing up our kitchen remodel and want to tackle the backsplash. It is currently already tiled with newer tile but not what we are wanting. I am looking at some glass mosaic. Is it possible to tile over the existing tile as long as it is in good shape? I know it would probably be best to just start from scratch but we already have the counters and new sink and faucet installed... Any help would be great!

Tiling over tile

Glass tile is problematic to begin with, I don't think I would install glass tile over existing tile. What about the edges? Will the edges be exposed if you do that?

So you want a path-of-least-resistance procedure?

Tiling over tile

Is the existing tile flawless?

If it is then tile can be installed over the top using unmodified thinset mixed with liquid latex.

Kerabond and Keralastic is a good example ---Scuff the tiles before you start.

Contact the glass tile manufacturer -----glass is seldom used in a high traffic area like a kitchen because scratches will occur.
