Is thinset alright as a joint compound for wallboard?
Hello, I am remodelling my bathroom and am wondering if I can use thinset as a joint compound for wallboard. The shower is all cement board, then the walls are a mix of cement board and wall board. I will be tiling roughly 4 feet up the non shower walls. I was curious if I would be alright with just mixing a bathc of thinset to fill in gaps between sheets. I have the correct tape for both wall board and cementboard. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Combining drywall to concrete board
It's okay to fill in the joint between the two wall boards with thinset, but you must install fiberglass joint tape over the seam. One this is complete, you must use light weight drywall mud or EZ sand 20 minute mud to adhere correctly on the first coat. Then you can either finish it with regular drywall mud or the 20 minute, doesn't matter.
