What are the advantages of adding a sunroom instead of a regular room addition?

Sunrooms may be installed on a variety of approved foundations (deck, concrete) in just one to five days, compared to the weeks or months required for a standard room addition.
By code, a sunroom may be designed with a large glass area (65% or more) that is not possible in conventional room additions. Its design does not include a permanent heating or cooling system and in the northern climates you must have a door separating it from your living space which is a disadvantage from a conventional room addition. If your looking for a heated 4 season room then a Sunroom is out of the question. I have installed many Sunrooms and I personally would rather a standard room addition.

I added a screened room to my home that I will eventually turn into a sunroom. This will provide me with the opportunity to basically be outdoors without the mosquitoes zeroing in on my family.since it is nothing but a covered, non heated living space ,the assessment is less for tax purposes. It's large enough for having company,(12x24)and can easily be used for an overnight guest, weather permitting.
It's a place to operate my grill in the winter,or rainy days.A good place for a hammock, watching over the kids in the pool while staying out of the sun, storing firewood out of the weather.
Some of these things I won't be able to do once it's a sunroom, unless I make the glass removable, but,my point is,what do you expect to gain from this addition? What's your lifestyle, and do you want four season use from it.

Sunrooms can heat up quickly and become unbearably hot, limiting their usage. If you install some sort of shading, then you lose the advantage of the windows.
Decide your expected use, then go for the components which will make the most enjoyable for you.
