Stucco and Termite Damage
The studs supporting an exterior wall of my house are termite damage and have been replaced. However, the carpenter does not know how to attach the new studs to the wire mesh and backing material, such that the new studs will support the exterior wall. Any ideas?

Pull out the damaged stud. If there are several go one at a time. Drill pilot holes through the stucco where the old stud used to be, spacing about 8 inches apart. Install the new stud using construction adhesive facing the stucco. From the outside use a countersink bit to enlarge the holes just a little. Use masonry screws to go through the stucco into the new stud(s). Top off the screws with concrete epoxy.
That may be overkill, I would adjust depending on the number of studs that were affected. |
