Spiral staircase weight

Hello and thanks,

Does anyone have a general idea of how much a fabricated spiral staircase might weigh?

I have looked and looked w no real results outside of the premade kits...

I have called around and have been told anywhere from 600-2000 lbs. which is a pretty wide range.

Hoping someone here might have experience w them.

We are talking 8'10" tall and 5' wide along w all the spec's needed to comply with code.

Thanks again

If you bought on, it should have specific requirements with it regarding support needs. If you are just looking, that should be readily available.

There are just too many different styles made from many different materials to give a more precise answer so the answer of of 600-2000 pounds would be about right.

I put a spiral staircase in when I built my log home (the wife wanted it). It is an all-steel, sort of "industrial looking" thing. It came as a kit and weighs around 700 pounds. It's from a company called Duvinage, whose factory is, fortuitously, not far from here. I just drove over and loaded it up.

If your concern is the need for additional floor bracing, you will most certainly have to do some unless your house is on a slab.
