I'm hoping to put some cabinets and a laminate countertop in a small kitchenette. The space is quite limited, so I need to be as compact as possible. Standard kitchen cabinets seem to have a depth of 24". Does anyone know if smaller depths are readily available (e.g., maybe 20")? I would need cabinets and laminate to match. I'll also be wanting to placa a small sink and range top.
Standard cabinets depth is 24" for base cabinets and 12" for wall cabinets. Anything else will be custom and the cost goes up quickly. Bar sinks would fit smaller cabinets, and laminate tops can easily be made to any size, but again, custom. Actually nearly all countertops are custom since no two houses are exactly the same, even with the same layout.
I would see what's available in the range top sizes before making the cabinets. If you can't find a unit to fit into the cabinets, what's the point?
They sell apartment sized appliances. Stoves that are 24" wide and the like Your parameter seems to be depth. Any appliance store should be able to help if you can't find choices on the internet.
It is possible to cut down a standard cabinet to a shallower depth. I did it to one of the cabinets in our log home so it would fit where the wife wanted it.
Bathroom cabinets are usually 1'-10", but a standard kitchen sink and stove would not fit.
