sliding door removal

I am having a rough time removing an exterior aluminum sliding glass door. There seems to be something like a safety catch in the center on the bottom.

??? - I'm confused about what you are aluding to.
Do you mean a screw on the sill?
??? (no offense)...

Please...can you be more descriptive about your predicament?

We have replaced and installed ALOT of sliding doors (all major manufacturers)....

sliding door removal part 2

I am removing an aluminum sliding door from the interior of my house. I believe it was installed in the 60s, but it may have been put in during the second addition in the 80s. I have tried lifting the sliding part of the door off the track from the bottom, as well as the stationary door from the bottom track. (I have removed the screws so that the stationary door now slides.) Both seem to be stuck on a catch or something in the middle of the doors. The bottom track cannot be removed until the doors are out. There is nothing else along the bottom as far as a sill, wood or trim goes that can be removed, because the door simply divides two rooms. There is subfloor on one side, and finished hardwood on the other side. I will be framing part of it and trimming out the rest so that it is a framed pass-through to a hall.
