I think the aluminum siding train has left the station a few years ago. You're looking at vinyl now.
Vinyl would be alot cheaper then stucco. Where do you live that you think it would preclude termite activity? Ron |

.Obviously there is going to be no comparison in costs between the vinyl and the stucco, that is apples to oranges. Or between the look for that matter, I have not run across anyone who wanted a stuco look, but thought vinyl was ok just because it was cheaper. |

Vinyl is way cheaper than Stucco.
Remove your existing wood siding or you WILL have problems with water intrusion around your windows and doors. |

The only way stucco would be cheaper would be if all your wives were masons.

what would it cost, more or less, for vinyl for a 1 story house 31 ft by 31 ft?

Cost will vary by region. Best thing to do would be to call a few siding contractors and get estimates. When you get these estimates make sure your comparing apples to apples. You want a detailed listing of what they are going to do. An estimate that says "Side house $8500" is useless. It would be nice if you could just rely on the "expertise" of these guys, but don't. Do some research about product and procedure. Ask some questions you know the answer to and see if they do. You can get referrals but most of the time the people giving them are clueless as to whether the contractor did a good job or not. They look at the big picture when the details of the installation, which are hidden and subtle, are the ones that will make or break the job.

oh yeah i forgot to mention, since i live in utah and we have basments our foundation goes up about 3-4 feet off the ground for a window to be installed. so my siding would only need to be about ~7 feet in height
