shower pan 1/2 destroyed

We arenít sure where to start. It appears that there was a tile shower there originally which the base has been partly destroyed. Whatís left appears to be angled correctly but the drain is not in the middle. There is no moisture barrier of any type. It looks like they poured concrete on top of the slab base and then applied the tiles to this. Iím not sure where to start. Do we need to take up the previous pan or can we add / fix whatís there? Should everything be taken up down to the slab? What do we do about the moisture barrier? I need step by step instructions. Thanks

That's a mess that apparently no one understands so take it all out and start over. We can supply you with a few of the proper procedures at that point. There is more than one way to do this. The drain doesn't necessarily have to be in the center but it would be better if it was.

I figured we'd have to take it all out but was hoping for the best. What should I do with the drain?

Everything out down to bare wood, and if you have to, may have to cut out the sub floor and replace with Marine grade ply, or exterior grade before doing it the correct way.

I think that it has already been cleared as that it is a slab.
