Should I remove old blown insulation in exterior walls
I have removed old sheetrock and found lath board still on walls, with blown insulation in wall, Should I remove old insulation, and re-install new Batts? Will I gain anything? And should I put a moisture barrier on the wall before I re-install sheet rock Thanks

If so, you'll have little choice but to replace the insulation there. How to handle a vapor barrier depends on what else is happening there. Old homes can be complicated. |

I would. The reason being in an old house like that there's a very real chance or outdated wiring, no blocking at the top and bottom of the walls,
Unsealed areas were wiring was run, settled insulation under windows, at the top of walls and under the diaganals in the outside corners. Since it's all down I'd also be seailing around the old window frames under the casing with expanding foam. |
