short partition top plate wont reach second beam

Building a short wall at the end of a tub. The wall is short enought thet it wont reach a second ceiling beam, or is it joist? anyway there will be two studs floor to ceiling 16 inch centers, there might be a third for making a pocket but will likey be inside that 16. and then stair step down to maybe 4.5 feet high.

So am thinking it is not secure enough with the top plate being attatched to just one beam, what are the ways to secure this, properly is better over easily. I dont want Mike Holmes comeing in and making a tv show out of my construction work. LOL

If you can access the joists above you can put a 2x6 or 8 block on the flat, between the two joists, centered over the wall. That gives you nailing on the end and each side for drywall, strapping etc.
