Sheet rocking un-heated sunroom walls - Vapor Barrier Needed?
We just put an all glass sunroom onto our home and want to Sheetrock the two walls that attach to the house. We are going to use moisture resistant sheetrock but are wondering if we should put some type of moisture barrier between the Sheetrock and existing plywood on the house . There is no heat however the room is completely sealed from outside unless we open the windows. Thanks for any help!

That room is considered an unconditioned space so you will want house wrap installed on the exterior sheathing and I assume the exterior wall of the house is already insulated?? Did they insulate anywhere in the sunroom?, floors, ceilings etc...

I recently added soffits underneath of a finished sunroom that the installers decided did not need it and the insulation had started to fall out the joist bays. Do you have protection underneath of the floor to keep the insulation from falling due to excessive moisture? Even though the room seems air tight you might want to treat it as an unconditioned space ( with correct moisture barriers) that can be heated or cooled from leaving the doors open to the house sometimes... |
