sealing new sink against laminate countertop

Right off the bat I think about running a bead of silicone and setting the sink in the bead.

Many old sinks/faucets I've removed were all packed under with plumbers putty. Maybe set the sink on a mess of putty, clean it off, and bead the outside with silicone?

What do you guys think is best? Thanks

Also I think if I attach/tighten the garbage disposal to the sink, that's a lot of effort maybe it might move the sink a bit and break the seal against the counter top. Should I wait awhile after installing the sink to let the seal solidify?

I've always seen the disposal installed after the basin is clamped down. Who wants to wrestle the sink with the extra weight of the gd. And it will be easier to get to the tie downs w/o something else in your way.

What type of sink are you using?
Material effects methodology.
