Sagging Joist - :-(

My 1950 kitchen is demo'ed and while finishing the wiring, I noticed that one of the joists is sagging. This explains the crack the length of the room before demo.

This is a single level home with no basement, just a crawl space and a crawl attic. There's a piece of wood nailed to the side of the joist where it looks like they might have tried to fix this in the past...I think you call it sistering? The joists are 2x6. FWIW, it's the 3rd one over in the photo. You can make out the support board nailed to the side.

Any suggestions on what course of action to take? The sag is about 1/2"+ on the one beam. Should we replace it or can it be cut and "sistered".

Thanks.

Given how far you've already demolished the ceiling, this is a no-brainer. Replace that joist!!! Very easily done.

Sistering another joist to it won't take the sag out of it, but would strengthen it. I'd advise against that.
