Hi Guys,

I would like to replacing the existing window into a entry door.

The problem is there is a 12inch high and 8inch wide foundation at the bottom.

:eek:I wonder if I can cut the foundation off to fit-in my standard 82*30 sized door.

My main concerns is the will cutting of that 30inch wide foundation will cause

any structural damage to my house.

cut out the concrete in that area and be sure to put a header above the door to support that area.
Should also think about sealing the newly exposed foundation in some way.

Thank you Sublime2 !

I just worried if cutting will damage the surrounding foundations structurally.

Any ideas ?

I don't know how deep it goes underground.

You can rent a chainsaw with a special blade the will cut right down to the slab on the sides.
If that's just block sitting on the slab once the sides are cut the block can just be knock out.

I am thinking renting a diamond blade concrete saw at homedepot, will that work?

Yup! From the pic it appears you will have room to use that type of saw.

go to your local building department. they probably have blue prints for the house that will show you how deep it is.

my thinking is, and perhaps is wrong. that if that foundations isn't deep enough, cutting out 12" will cause issues you don't want. just sayin.

I would use a 36 inch door.

Why? It is just a side door.
