Replacing tile in bathroom floor (2x2 tile)
Hi i am replacing two sheets of 2x2 tile that were not of the same dye lot.
( the tile retailer has claimed that i should have noticed prior to install and will not help)
I have removed all the grout on the floor pan and have removed the two sheets of tile.
When replacing the tile with two new sheets of the corect dye lot can i use the thinset to cover the imperfections of the concrete floor pan which now is slightly pitted from the removal of the original tile?
Alternatively i can mix another batch of limeless mortar for the base to skim.
The thinset should work fine for what you described.
The tile stores can be real butts about mixed lots---always beware of open boxes or loose pieces.
