Replacing my bathtub and Shower tile

Ok my house was built back in 1977. I'd like to start a few remodeling projects so that i can sell my house in a year or 2. I have a broken soap dish with a handle that is starting to turn black. i assume this is from water seeping in. I don't want to pay for someone to fix or replace this. but i would like to know what is all involved with replacing the bathtub, and tile. And if its possible to they may spa tubs to fit in a standard bathtub stall?

This is a subject frequently discussed here---

You might look in the tile section and follow some of the older threads---Jim F has a good step by steps thread---also Big Jim---

Gutting the tub area and removing the old tub is not all that difficult---

Adding a new tub and drain set is well within the ability of a person with good mechanical skills.

Adding a new shower mixing valve requires soldering skills---

Spa tub? If you are speaking of a whirlpool, you need to be able to run a dedicated electric circuit with GFCI protection----

Tiling? There is a world of info right here on proper technique---

Ask here and post a link to any videos that you like---there is a lot of bad instructional videos---so be careful---some are failures waiting to happen.

We can walk you through any part of a tile or bath job---Mike----

Well, I think it depends on how experienced you are. Im a complete novice and in the middle of renovating a bathroom. Im lucky it was built in the early 80s so nothing to crazy. Its a big job for someone unskilled but it can be done. Prepare to spend a lot of time and buy a lot of tools.
