Does anyone out there know if it is possible to replace tile countertops with laminate countertops for the kitchen? There are some nice ones at Home Depot that are in stock already, and quite budget-friendly. Is this a job for Superman, or should I get some help from my licensed carpenter friend? Does the tile need to be dug-out first? Let me know!! Thanks:wink:
The tile would need to be completely removed, as well as the tile's substrate. Typically those pre-made laminated countertops are intended to be installed directly onto the cabinet carcasses.
If you have a carpenter friend, I'd try to get his help. Especially if there are any corners that will require joining.
depending on your existing walls and backsplash.. this could be an involved projet. The budget minded pre-formed CT you spotted at the big box store...might take a very big effort to replace what you have.
Can you post a pic or two?
