replace vapor barrier from inside?

hey guys
first time homebuyer bought a quad level house and its tuning into quite the money pit
the leve that is 1/2 under ground has concrete slab wall on the bottom hall supporting standard wood frame above. outside is 1/2 brick venner below and aluminum siding above. problem is i ripped out the drywall and behind i found a colony of ants the are getting in through a hole in the brick mortar. i removed the fiber glass insulation and the water damaged silverclad cardboard vapor barrier, but now i want to reinstall the vapor barrior / insulation and im unsure how to proceede. cant do plastic beacause there are brick wall anchors nailed to the wood frame. how should i proceede? friend suggest spray in foam insulation, hes not sure on its water / water vapor / inscect resistant capabilities? anyone care to comment? thanks ps im ready to go back to an apartment! please help!

spray foam may be a good solution. Closed cell spray foam is a class 2 vapor retarder, open cell foam, I believe is class 3 (the pros may correct me on this). You will want to maintain the drain-space between the brick veneer and the sheathing.
