removing part of a wall
 

I have a kitchen wall that I would like to remove from the counter up to the ceiling. Pulled drywall and it extends out the back of the house forming the exterior wall of breakfast nook. It is supporting the beam running across the top of the nook. If I put about 4 2x4 in that corner creating a point support I should be fine removing the rest of hat wall. Anybody have any experience doing anything like this.

If you are pulling a wall that is supporting a beam that inturn supports the 2nd floor or roof.
You need to support the beam across its length with temporary framing infront of the wall your removing.
Its a load bearing wall you need to support the load the wall your removing is now supporting.

I'm not removing the section of the wall that holds up the beam. The rest of he wall is parallel to the floor joists with none of them resting on it. Plan is to add a couple extra 2x4s under where the beam sits on the wall. I'm working on getting a picture up.

This is the corner. Beam in ceiling running perpendicular to yellow wall. This corner is staying and is where I will add support behind what is there already.
