Removing Laminate Backsplash and Replacing Cabinets
My husband and I want to remove the laminate backsplash in my kitchen and replace the countertops. We also want to update/replace the cabinets along with replacing the light fixture. We're not sure how to go about doing this, or what tools we need to do this also.

If you are replacing the cabinets--counter tops and back splash---
This is the order of things--- Order your new cabinets and wait till the cabinets are on hand before you demolish any thing.. Unhook the sink and remove the appliances-- Remove the counter top--usually screwed from inside the cabinets-- Remove the cabinets--cabinets are screwed together through the face frames, near the hinges-- Boxes are screwed to the wall--- When the wall is free of the cabinets---remove the drywall that was the old back splash area--a 4 foot strip is usually easiest-- Now you are ready to upgrade the electrical wiring--lower the drain for the sink (yes--lower it) sinks are deeper than ever before--and under mounted-- add wiring for cabinet lights--- add insulation where needed replace the drywall and tape it (only finish tape the parts that show) Install the new cabinets---call the counter top people-- Hook up sink and appliances. |
