Redoing a bedroom

Well, along time ago my dad had remodeled our whole house as well as adding an addition. But he was the kind of person (like myself) who left a job half-finished. But, fortunately, I've gotten better. But basically he ended up leaving one room the same as it was in the '30s when the house was built, minus he lowered the ceiling from 10' to 8' and put in a ceiling fan (but no outlets). So I'm starting to ramble and i should get to the point i need some advice on how to redo it-walls, floor, and electrically.

Take it back to the 10 foot ceiling and **repair** what exists as it is.
Otherwise leave it alone.
