Question about replacing interior doors

When replacing doors, do I measure the door itself or the frame? We will be purchasing pre-hung doors.

Don't forget to measure the jamb width as they can differ, especially in older houses and modular houses. Ron

eidol Newbie   Join Date: Apr 2009 Posts: 7	Question about replacing interior doors measure the door itself ,these all should be whole numbers no fractions. common sizes are 24"28" 30" 32" 36" by 80" in ht. Like ron said measure jamb width the thickness of wall. Most of the homes built in the last thirty years will be 2x4 or2x6 so the jambs will be either 4 9/16" or 6 9/16"

That's why you measure the rough opening, because that's the measurement you will give to the person taking the order. Along with the jamb measurement. Measure all the jambs, don't do a few and figure they're all the same. Ron
