Problem with kitchen corner
 

We are remodeling our kitchen and planned to enlarge it, however, a variance we sought has been denied. We can still enlarge the room a couple of feet but one corner cannot be pushed out with the rest of the space due to the denial of the variance.
Does anyone have any idea how to camouflage the corner that will now jut out into the kitchen. Attached (hopefully) is a drawing of how it would look with the kitchen corner jutting in.
It looks like a beam or chimney in the corner. It can't be removed because the outside wall is on the other side.

That's exactly right. It is now too close to where the town ordered new setbacks from neighboring homes. When the home was built it was fine but a few years ago new setback margins were added for any new construction or remodel in the town.
I was hoping to try and hide it somehow. I guess it's impossible. Maybe I just won't enlarge and just update.

Yeah you'll have to weigh the expense of enlarging aginst the benefits
But another ~2' of space can make a big difference in a smaller room
You could also put matching cabinet facade up even with the new cabinets
Then tile underneath to make it blend in

Are you doing home depot type cabinets, or buying from a cabinet company? If going to a company, maybe you can change your design up a little and put in a small deep cabinet, maybe 9" wide and put a pull out in it. Could use it for a spice rack type cabinet. check out rev-a-shelf, they manufacture a bunch of cabinet inserts/accessories.
