Plaster and Lathe Walls

I peeled wallpaper off one of our rooms and have discovered that some of the walls are the old plaster and lathe walls. There were two layers of paint that came off in places with the wallpaper. Should I remove all the paint from the walls, or just try and repair where the paint peeled off? I realize that this paint is lead based and know about the safety precautions, just want to know if I should peel all the paint off on these walls or patch?

The joys of an old home!

Plaster and Lathe Walls

Peel/scrape off any loose paint, then skim coat with drywall compound. That will smooth things out. CAREFULLY clean everything up, it is almost surely lead based paint.

Thanks, that will work for me..the less work I have to do the better. Good news is that I think I started on the oldest room in the house, which I think was the original living room. The other rooms will be pieces of cake (lol).
