Open floor plan for kitchen and living, dinning area
My daughter would like to make her kitchen area open to the living room and dinning run. She has a wall between the kitchen and living room area and it has the air return at the top of the wall. Can the return be closed and open at the bottom part of the wall. She live in a small town and trying to make her living area more of an open floor plan

Open floor plan for kitchen and living, dinning area
No problem with the air return, however, if she is planning to make openings she must check to see if the wall is load bearing. If it is she should consult with an engineer.
