New kitchen remodel

We have just started a complete kitchen remodel. 2 wall taken down and everything moved. I am acting as GC and have some of the work, but found it cost efficient to hire skilled guys where I'm not comfortable. I'll try and load as many pics as I can. My project has a budget of 40 to 45 k. And love doing this kind of stuff.

New kitchen remodel

We are installing an eng hard wood. The floor will be in before the Cabinets due to the design if the cabinet. The cabinets will be painted white, and the Island will be stained. I will talk with the painter and to get a better feel on the color of the Island

New kitchen remodel

I'm mostly here to watch- good luck with the progress... One question though: do you have any reservations about using wood floors in the kitchen?

Pucks, Tile would be very low maine, but I really wanted the look and feel of wood floors, so we are going to just deal with what ever maine items come with having this floor.

New kitchen remodel

We finished our home remodel six months ago and put hardwood floors in the kitchen, and yes, we have young children. It made sense because we have an open concept and there was no place to make a transition from hardwood to tile that would look half decent. We have no problems with cleanup. Any mess the kids can give us is easily swiffered or mopped away.

Our old kitchen had laminate and it did not do well, there were many chips from wear and tear. We have had no issues with hardwood in the kitchen.

New kitchen remodel

We too put hardwood into our kitchen with no regrets. We kept our original cabinets so it took a lot of research and the help of an interior designer and flooring specialist to find the right wood species and colour. It turned out beautiful. And I believe hard wood is easier to stand on than tile.

Looking forward to your pictures Msmith.

New kitchen remodel

The kitchen is almost done. There has been so much plastic and protective sheeting over everything, you couldn't really see any progress. So the next pics will come next week of the finished product. Thanks for everyone's support. It has been a huge battle at times dealing with people that just don't seem to understand that even a small texture job as this one, will be part of a big overall product. Subs just don't see to care. I have had to stand over every contractors shoulder since this started to make sure it was done right.
See ya next week.

Very nice work! May I ask where you got most of the materials and the total cost? I am also in them middle of a full-house remodel, which includes kitchen tile, cabinets, and countertops.
