New from Baton Rouge and frustrated

Found ya'll today and read all the plumbing posts!!
I am trying to remove the tub drain stopper from the drain. It appears to be a lift and turn type which should just screw off, but mine doesn't have a set screw. I have tried pliers, but it only goes so far and then nothing. Any suggestions?:(

Also, I am thinking of removing the cultured marble wall surround and replacing it with either a 3 piece plastic type, or going with ceramic tile. Any thoughts on this?? The current surround is loose, and it looks like there is only sheetrock behind it. Would I need to remove the SR and replace it with green board??

You have to grasp the underneith side of stopper, then untwist the top, under top is the large screwdriver top.

As for the walls, ask about this in carpentry forum.

yeah!!!

I didn't do it exactly as you said, but something clicked - and worked:thumbsup: . I reached under the top and held the stem, then unscrewed the top. TA-DAA!! the top came off and I was able to get the nasty glob of my daughter's long hair out of the drain.

Next question - what is the best (easiest) way to clean a tub that the kids have not really cleaned well in years? Lots of soap scum and some rust marks. Also has those awful non-slip appliques that I have removed, but the shape is still there.
