New basement bulkhead location.

I want to relocate the basement exterior door. Currently there's a door on the side of the house that exits at grade level. I want to relocate it to the back of the house with a door that is at the basement level with stairs that lead to a bulkhead. The foundation is made up of fieldstone below grade and cinder block above grade. I wouldn't be doing this myself. Is this doable; Has anyone done this before? Do they remove the fieldstones that are in the way or cut through them?
TIA
