Need new kitchen, how should I look for. help.

hi people,

I will be buying a project house (its a repo) it does need a lot of cosmetic work and definetly a new kitchen. It is a small place about 1000sqf so I want to make sure I take advantage of every corner available for the kitchen. I would like to keep it in scale with the space available. I was just wondering if it would be worth it to hired an interior designer or simply reply on a kitchen cabinet place for a design. I know this house is small and therefore I am trying to be very careful with the decisions I make in order to make it look nice and in armony. What should I look for when I am looking for a kitchen? What advices of do's and don't based on what I have already mentioned.

It would help if you stated the houses future use and why it was being fixed up.
Flip? Rental? Your home to live in? I think it's safe to assume you won't need the added cost of an interior designer for the project.
