Need help lighting new rooms.

It was an inlaw with a kitchen/living room, bedroom and bath. We removed most of the walls and are instead putting an office and a big playroom. The room only had two lights one in the old bedroom and kitchen (visible in the mirror) and one in the room on the right (hole in the picture). We'd like to put 4" cans in, six or so in the entry/room 1 and 8 or so in the other side of playroom. I was thinking about leaving the center lights as an extra but not sure about that. Thinking two switches, one for left side and one for right side but my wife suggests that there is a third switch for just the entry (coming from laundry room up the stairs to the right) but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

Thoughts? Ideas?
