The drywall is already up. Halfway through taping and mudding already. A safe deposit box might be necessary

I worked on a friend's house once where the studs were totally not centered. I put a strip of painters tape on the ground and on the ceiling, marked off where the studs were on the tape, finished dry-walling, taping, painting the walls, then transferred the marks from the tape to the finished walls with a faint pencil mark.

Made life so much easier when we came back to hang cabinets and the tv stand.

Just make a small dot at the top of the wall with sharpie marker, right where each stud is. Thats what we did, if you just make a small dot right where the wall and ceiling meet, it wont be noticed unless you are looking for it
