LVL lambeam and me...

so, i have a LVL lambeam. its 1 3/4 thick 12" tall and 20 feet long. will this support a an 18' span if supported at each end? it will be supporting a ceiling on one side of it only, with only insulation above the ceiling. thank you for your time....

Call the manufacturer of the beam. They will tell you the longest allowed unsupported span figures. Ask for the engineering department and tell them what you want to accomplish. They'll give you thumbs up on it or not.

You need either three 16 inch beams or two 18 inch beams.

the man. stated i would need 2 9" LVLs so i went with another 12 to make it a double. the inside span is actually 16'. if i ever need to add a post down the road that would be easy enough. thanks again for your time!
