Living room remodel question?

I just bought this mobile home, and as you can see in the pic, it has beams running across the ceiling from one side of the living room to the other, with the marriage wall in the middle. I originally thought I would add crown molding but then I worried that the ceiling might look too "busy" with the molding next to the beams. Then I thought maybe I'd just add quarter round instead. I've also considered painting the beams white, so they would blend, but I'm not crazy about that idea, cuz I kinda like the way they look now.

I'm totally new at this, so there's probably plenty of options I don't even know about. For clarification, I am removing the wall strips, filling the gaps with joint compound, prepping the walls with TSP, Kilz'ing all the walls, and then painting them Antique White and the trim will be Arctic White, and adding a chair rail where the half-wall paneling meets the upper wall. (I'm worried that the dark beams are not going to match the room once I finish painting it in such light colors).

So now that you know what the rest of the room will eventually look like, should I go with crown molding or just quarter round? Or something else that I don't even know about?

Suggestions?

Do what you stated and then look at the beams. Maybe live with it a few days, then decide if they're too dark.

JMHO, but I would NOT do crown molding if you are keeping the beams. Those are two totally different looks and I don't think they would play well together. I would use a trim that is similar to what is currently there, at the most.
