Lighting Problem in Pantry

I have a pantry in a dark hallway off the kitchen. There is no room in the pantry for a light and I can not put a light outside the pantry because the bifold door touches the low ceiling. The shelves come all the way to the door and each shelf is too dark to see without a flashlight. What are my options?

An electrician will have to provide you with required clearances, as you would need to shorten your shelves, but it would seem that some manner of fluorescent, or perhaps even low voltage lighting, could be provided in one of the front corners of the pantry. But, you may also want to consider sliding bin units, which would allow you to slide individual shelves out into the light of the hallway. Depending on the configuration of the pantry, this may chew up less space than installing light in the pantry itself, and you can purchase ready made bin units, or you can purchase the hardware, which would allow you to design and build it yourself, in order to maximize available space.

There is low-voltage LED strip lighting that would be less than an inch thick.

Use the low voltage from home depot I use them on my kitchen under the cabinets onces. They work great and very small wires. You can also use wire strips for a cleaner look. Good luck
