Laundry Chute Ideas

When I had my house remodeled in 94 I had a laundry chute put in from the 2nd floor to the basement. Now I am finishing the basement laundry room. I would like some ideas for finishing the laundry chute. Currentli it sticks out of the ceiling about 1 foot. The ceiling is a 7 feet high.

Thanks

Cut it off flush or slightly above joists, then add a trap door with a latch.

Check with your local AHJ. They may have fire code requirements to follow. Self-closing door, gasketed, 30 minute rated, minimum size, etc.
