kitchen cabinets

This is a project I'm helping a friend with. I have several years experience as a carpenter, but lately I have been doing exclusively commercial work. So, my question. I have always used drywall screws to fasten cabinets to the wall and to each other. The helpful guy in the orangs apron thinks I should use something else. He showed me a screw that has high and low threads and seems to be really "coarse". I hope I explained this well enough, because I forgot the name for the screw. Any opinions? Thanks Rich

Drywall screws are way to brittle for that and may well just snap off.
The name on the box may have well said cabinet screws.
The ones that hold it to the have a large head, almost looks like a washer behind the head, there called truss head.
The ones to hold the cabinets together look like trim head screws.

Thanks, those are the screws the HD guy suggested. I'll give them a try. As for the screw to fasten the cabinets together, are you recommending square head trim screws? I should have mentioned, the cabinets are not oak fronts. I think they're maple. Thanks Rich
