Joining PVC and ABS
I got a new bathtub that came with PVC pipes but my house has ABS piping, should I connect the two by using the rubber no hub coupling? There's an "All purpose cement" for sale in big box store for ABS, CPVC, PVC. Can I glue the ABS and PVC pipe directly with this cement? Which way is better ? Thanks.

Yes, your PVC cement will work for your connections if it states that it can be used on ABS, etc.

Flexible rubber couplings are ideally used when your old and new pipe are of differing diameters due to wall thickness, etc. You can use it for your purpose if you'd like but 3" or 4" couplings usually cost more than a traditional ABS or PVC coupling.

You cannot use PVC cement on CPVC, though (which doesn't really relate to your situation - but it's a case in which content does matter - take future note)
