I am trying to replace the interior doors in my house. The door that I installed fits the jamb but it keeps springing back upon closing,. Can anybody give me some insight on what I should do to rectify this problem? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
The door is hinge bound---there are several causes---
1.The hinge mortice is to deep--shim out the hinge with a playing card or two---
2 The jamb is twisted so that the edge of the door hits the jamb before the door is fully closed----remove the casing and re-shim the jamb so it is not twisted.---you could cheat and shim the hinge only on the pin side---
3. door is hitting the stop molding---remove and reinstall the stop in the proper position
4. something else that might be seen if you posted a picture or two.
