Hi, This is my first post and I looking for some advice. I have a breezeway that is attached to a brick house. This was added on after house was built and is is sided, not brick. Right now there is a 32" storm/door there. I would like to replace it with an exterior 9 lite door(either steel or fiberglass?). I will probably add a new storm door too later. I have linked some pictures below. The new door will be hinged on the brick side becasue it will be opening inward. The opening right now is 32" x 82 1/2".The is the dimension measuring inside the 2 x 6's(painted white) It is a 2 x 4 wall but the frame which you can see in the picture are 2 x 6's which the storm door is mounted to.
What size door should I install? I've seen some 9 lite exterior doors that are 30"w and also some that are 32"w. I guess i would rather go with the 32".
How do I go about reframing and getting a new rough opeing size(which studs do I take out). I have my ideas, but I want it done the right way so I'm asking for some pro advice. I am pretty good at carpentry but not up on all the terms for framing so a good description or quick sketch would be great!
