I need ideas and help with remodeling my 1922 kitchen

and id like to stay true to that era, what can i do to modernize it as well as make it look like it is from the 1920s??







the column in the second picture is a coal chute of wood chute of somesort that goes to the basement

Easiest way to change the look would be to repaint, and possible add some new handles to the cupboards, change appliances.

How much remodelling do you plan on doing?


Extensive, cosmetic, etc.

both really, new cabinets, new appliances, new countertops, an island, extending the kitchen into the room that is adjacent to it

paint, and new floor, and restoring anything we can

Opening it up can only improve the flow and layout. You have alot of obstacles in the present kitchen.

Just a few suggests. Beadboard cabinets were used alot in the '20's. A farms-style sink, half-circle drawers pulls with coordinating round knobs for the upper cupboards. Some of the upper cabinets should have glass fronts. Tiled backsplashes were sometimes used with solid surface countertops. Don't forget that Art Deco and Art's and Crafts style were very popular around that time.
