How to get nails out of basement floor. Is there some kind of trick?

I'm in the process of cleaning up after a flooded basement and the nails in the floor are driving me crazy. I had a flood a few years ago and ripped the floor up and walls out etc. But the many of the nails didn't come up. Its not a basement that's used but really want to get the nails out. It makes it difficult when something like this happens to clean it. Is there a trick to getting the nails out? They are in good really difficult to get out.

What type of floor? Make sure you have a good strong nail puller? If you don't care about the floor since the basement isn't used much? You might think about just cutting/grinding them flush with the surface. A little grinder will make short work of the whole process. Watch the sparks near gas appliances like the water heater and furnace though.

Concrete nails are hardened--they will usually just snap off of you hit them from the side.

Then borrow sdster's grinder an clip off what's left. (if you don't own a 4 1/2' grinder-they are cheap-and very useful)--Mike--
