Home Theater - window question

I live in Alberta, i am turning our basement family room into a dedicated theater room, room is 22 x 14 and has one window. Window is 46" x 28" slider. Room has 1 - 32" door.

Can i board up this one window or is it needed for egress?

Thanks

Home Theater - window question

Rather than boarding it up, how about building a column on either side and then hinging a sound dampening panel between the two columns to hide it.

Build another on the opposite side of the room as well and you have the "upscale" theater room look....

Something like the sidewalls in this picture:

that is a good idea. or, you can make what is called a "plug" = is whatever you decide to make that covers all of the light that could leak into the room.
