Help !!! Removing A Wall
Hi...Need your advice. We are removing a wall from the Kitchen into the
Dining Room. The span is 10' 8". It is a load bearing wall, with ONLY attic space above. What size support beam (dimension using 2Xs) do we need to install, to support this opening properly? Thanks for any input you can give. |

Help !!! Removing A Wall
Good luck getting a definative answer to that one on here. The only 100% correct answer we can give you is ask the code officials where YOU live what size header you need to support the span you have. It doesn't cost to ask. Really, I'm surprised they didn't tell you when you applied for the permit...you did get a permit...right?? If not, you should...for this reason. They're really not your enemy...they just don't want 10' 8" of your roof falling on your head. And the property tax argument is no good either, with what you're doing I doubt it would go up at all.
