Help Please Baseboard / ripping out paneling

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could lend me a hand, I have recently purchased a house, and am ripping the wooden paneling out in the basement due to powder post beetle infestation, I started ripping the paneling out, and realized that I cannot rip the bottom out because it's connected with a 1/2 behind the hot water baseboard heater, and I am accidentally pulling the heater away from the wall from prying.


I am a total Newbie, can anyone help me?

Is there a photo or two of what you are talking about?

By the way it sounds, you should be removing the baseboard heater first - along with disconnecting of the wiring between it and the power supply. Don't forget to cap the wires.

Who is overseeing your pest issue? Hope it's someone reputable.

Its hot water base board heat not electric. I would use a multi tool and cut the paneling flush with the heaters.

you might be able to use a multi tool to cut a slot in the paneling for the pipe and pull it straight up.

Remove the covers on the heaters, remove the screws holding the back side of the cover to the wall. Now just slide the panels out.

Then use a cats paw pry bar.

I think you will find it will all be a lot easier if, at least temporarily, you get the baseboard heater out of your way. It should not be a major plumbing challenge.

Otherwise a cat's paw or flatbar to pull things loose if you have the clearance. Saw the nails off if not (assuming you can get a sawsall or mult-tool in the space). Problem is you are going to have to put things back and will probably end up moving the baseboard heater out of your way at some point anyhow? You will not be able to nail anything else or screw drywall with it in place.

Of course if you are not prepared to put things back together right away you will have to cap the plumbing to the heater and be without the heat it provides.
